SIDE EYE FROM PARADISE

Meera Norris, painted “Side Eye from Paradise” in 2023, for awareness of indigenous struggles of the islands of Hawaii in land protection and the myth of development, 2023 had a large man made fire. The portrait is of Haunani-Kay Trask a poetess, activist and educator from the Islands. Meera had visited Hawaii a year after her mother passed and while there she had a few deeply spiritual experiences with nature and rain forest animals, that grew her respect for the Islands power and beauty.
